Ashley made a quick trip to Quito to meet her mom...

Ashley and Donna stayed at the Atinea Apart Hotel
(according to the guide book, it's a remodeled mansion in addition to 
being one of Quito's finest boutique hotels).

3.5 km Old Town walking tour

 Plaza and Monastery of San Francisco
(Ecuador's oldest church, construction began in 1534 and lasted 70 years)
 









 Historic street Juan de Dios Morales (aka La Ronda)
(One of Quito's oldest (17th century), where artists, writers and political figures once resided)



Basilica del Voto Nacional
(interesting facts: built over several decades starting in 1926, 
and rather than gargoyles there are turtles and iguanas)

 Parque El Ejido

 Some interesting log sculptures in the park
